Who we are
Solidary Routes is a non-profit social project created in 2011 in the city of Porto, which acts nationally and internationally in the scope of Community Cooperation and Development.
It has in its genesis to work with the community in the implementation of programs that involve the pillars of Sustainability – that are socially just, economically viable and ecologically correct.
The project is based on the principles of Sustainable Development as defined by the 1987 Brundtland Report which considers that this is a “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” and the principles of Community Development as a process to improve the living conditions of a community, taking into account its own specificities. Solidarity Routes promotes a balanced and integrated development with respect for the values and culture of the community, taking advantage of its historical wealth.
The project Solidarity Routes is focused on providing all parties involved a sharing relationship in which all cooperate and benefit from a more just and equitable society.
What we do
We develop planned programs according to the needs and characteristics of the communities in which they are inserted and take into to account the participants aptitudes and interests.
The Travel and Cooperate Program is developed with the purpose of associating work for the community, solidarity and socially responsible travel.
Who participates stimulates actions with the community, engages with the locals, knows its culture, its traditions and contributes to the growth of the local economy.
The Route of Books Program is developed in a school context during the school year. Its purpose is to contribute to the curricular enrichment of the youngsters and promote their civic participation through the organization of several practical activities with the community.
The sharing experiences moments and the interculturality promotion are the basis of the programs, which contributes in this way to the construction of a broad citizenship with equal rights.
